“I am music. I am a whistleblower for peace. I am Naomi Pilgrim.” Indeed. Naomi Pilgrim is a fresh artist with a sweet voice and punchy lyrics. She was born in Barbados and raised in Sweden; her experiences immersed in different cultures contribute to her eclectic perspective on modern pop. She’s worked with Lykki Li as a backup singer and brilliantly plays with genres and edgy themes in her new release “No Gun.” The track begins with deep sonic bass, R&B-inspired beats and heavily reverbed electronic blips. Pilgrim’s vocals are captivating. She weaves a lyrical story and cleverly reveals an emotional journey. She plays with the concept of have/have-not and establishes examples of heavy situational irony in the sparkling verses. Her beautiful voice pierces through the grooving instrumentals as she sings “I found my soul mate but we’re screwing just for fun, Made it to the club but the band was done… I memorized the Bible but there was no God, I made a bargain but the whole thing was a fraud.” Her musical commentary is strong and admirable, her brilliant melodic creation is more than catchy. Naomi Pilgrim is a force to keep an eye on. Until then, listen to “No Gun” and revel in her musical presentation of life.
Beginning as a small music venture in the summer of 2012, OurDeadRadio was produced as a solution to common problems transmitted through the airwaves: tuning frustration, exhaustive pop-processing, and unoriginal repetitive top-twenty tracks. This site is dedicated to the relentless mix-makers, eclectic music junkies and compulsive indie gem scourers of the world. OurDeadRadio is a carefully selected preview of what is good and thriving and ultimately, what is rarely heard on the radio. From indie up-and-comers to dusty tracks of the past, OurDeadRadio presents what is not often produced through standard FM stations. As a cultivation of music found though blogs, local scenes, and submissions, please enjoy the sounds of OurDeadRadio.

Anticon records celebrated 15 years of great music at Anticon Weekend, an event that featured Baths, Daedelus, D33J, Sodapop and Low Limit. This summer, these artists came to the beautiful ACE Hotel and Swim Club in Palm Springs to showcase a refreshing dose of unconventional pop, electronic music, and DJ sets for pool-goers and Cali vacationers alike. Here’s a photo we took of Will Wiesenfeld of Baths in the Amigo Room at the hotel, creating the ideal summer soundtrack at a perfect location. Be sure to keep up with great music happenings at Anticon Records.
